Every year the Dioceses holds Parish Leadership workshops in the 4 areas. These days are held for the wardens and leaders of the churches in order to help them with their work and ministry. Christ the King had the pleasure of hosting York-Credit Valley this year.
There was approximately 100 delegates, five presenters and Bishop Poole who attended. Bishop Poole started off by welcoming everyone and thanked the Church of Christ the King for hosting. After prayers and hymns we started the learning process. There were sessions on Risk Management presented by Emma Rahic of Marsh Canada and Dan Paulikot, Ecclesiastical Insurance. Kathryn Rogers, Treasurer and Director of Finance presented on how churches manage finances. There was an Area Focus with Bishop Poole informing us of the variety of projects we as a wider church are involved in.
A wonderful lunch was provided by the Diocese and afterwards David Badlan, Property Support Manager for the Diocese held an informative presentation on managing rental facilities. After the afternoon break we had a very meaningful talk with Amy Talbert who is the Diocesan Human Resources Director. A number of excellent questions were asked and answered during this and all of the other sessions.
The day came to an end with closing prayers by Bishop Poole and a hymn.
Music was provided for the hymns by our own Rev’d Julian Aldous which added to the workshop.
The leadership team and catering team from the church, did an excellent job in preparing the room and later dismantling it, as well as providing a stream of refreshments throughout the day.
Many thanks go out to all who contributed.
