Easter Message March 2016     DSCN5997

Dear Friends,

When people think of Easter today, bunnies and chocolate and eggs are first and foremost in their minds. So to start, here are a couple of Easter jokes: Q:How do bunnies stay healthy? A: They Eggercise. Q:What happened to the egg when he was tickled too much? A: He cracked up! Now on a more serious note, the yolking is over….!

So, I wish you a very happy Easter, as you gather with friends and family to celebrate the most monumental event of all human history, the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Growing up in a Christian home, each year we would celebrate Good Friday at another church as two churches united for this special event. Then on Easter Sunday, we would celebrate in our own churches again. The fact that unity was present at this time, is so important. Christ is calling us still to be a united church, which centres on this historical fact, Jesus death and resurrection.

Without Easter, our faith is empty. Believing that Christ died, is to state that there was a purpose behind His death; His death has accomplished a victory over Satan and the powers of hell, thereby bringing us forgiveness for everything. God raised Jesus up from death, and that demonstrated that even the power of death, was not strong enough to deter God’s plan. His resurrection brings us hope and joy knowing that He is in complete control.

When we reflect on all that God has given us in Jesus Christ, from our very lives themselves to everyday provisions, we then see that all good things come from His hand. For me, that encourages me to give back to God with my time, my talent, my money, my heart, my work, in fact in every area of my life. Sometimes I hold onto things, and can let them take over and not give back to God as I should. However, knowing that God loves us and forgives us, makes me want to give more to Him. Our gratitude should want us to and enables us to give back.

The work here at Christ the King, is one of loving God and loving each other. If God so loved the world that he gave us Jesus (John 3:16) then we too, if we are following God, will want to give to others and love them also. For us as a church, this takes time but also finance. I therefore, thank you in advance for your part in helping make this mission of God’s work to the world possible.

Every blessing this Easter tide as you experience the joy, love, peace and hope of Jesus Christ!
